Palm pilot PDA - World class PDA at your fingertips
It's no wonder that Palm pilot PDA has taken the world by storm. The unique and bold design of these pocket PC's, along with the useful Palm pilot PDA functionality and ease of use has done the job. It has received rave reviews from millions of users all over the world. Let's take a closer look at this product, it's features and why is it so successful and loved by so many people.
Pilot was the name given to the first generation of personal digital assistants manufactured by Palm Computing in 1996.
The first models were called Pilot 1000 and Pilot 5000.
These Palm pilot PDA models had no infrared port, backlight, or flash memory, but they already had a serial port. Their RAM size was 128K and 512K respectively, and they used version 1 of the Palm OS operating system - a unique OS that was developed for the Palm.
In the following years the models became more and more advanced. Widely popular and successful model were the Palm III and the Palm V. After them the Palm Tungsten took over.
In the last years, Palm pilot PDA devices are getting more and more advances.
Their new abilities include:
- The ability to become a hard drive on another computer via a regular USB cable you can get at the store.
- The Palm TX offers the ability to browse the Internet wirelessly.
- The market now goes into merge with "smartphones". For example, the "Treo 700w" is the latest Palm pda that combines a Palm handheld with mobile phone, e-mail, SMS, and instant messaging. It's also the first Palm pilot PDA to use a windows based operating system instead of the traditional Palm OS.
It is believed that the Palm PDA as a stand alone device will decline and instead a PDA plus mobile phone model will become widely accepted.
This is only resonable, as the notebook computers are getting slimmer and lighter and are taking the place of the traditional PDA as a portable computer device.
